There's some sweetness in the re-bonding of father and son. Both Stanton and Carson are great, instilling emotion in silent moments. The middle portion that concerns this is good. However, this is bookended by a needless start and an ending worth a long shrug. Would've been more forgivable if I had been more involved with the characters.

An incredibly poignant and beautiful film that draws its emotion from real human experience and drama. The film plays each scene so subtly, yet each scene is also nuanced and rich in character development.

One of the most emotionally powerful movies I've seen and it doesn't rely on melodrama. Great style, music and an overall masterpiece. I recommend it to everyone.

Our Daily Free Stream: Wim Wenders - Paris Texas.

Paris, Texas

“I'm not afraid of heights. I'm afraid of fallin.” This has elements of a powerful epic sublime drama, western settings and an entertaining human disconnection. A story that focuses on Travis Henderson (Harry Dean Stanton) and brother Walt Henderson (Dean Stockwell). Walt inquires Travis as to what happened for 4 years but doesn't speak at all. The first word Travis says is Paris. Hunter meets Travis after four years of absence and tries to avoid him.

The picture had so many brilliant quotes: "Your living with people now." – Walt, "He's got to get tired sometime." - Anne , "Why can't he do anything?" – Hunter, "It's just the way it is" “But a funny thing started to happen, he didn't even notice it at first, she started to change.” - Travis and "The pain of seeing him grow up and...

"Paris, Texas" by Yojimbo

A man wordlessly stumbles out of the desert after disappearing without a trace four years previously and sets about reclaiming his lost family. Harry Dean Stanton is one of those faces that everyone knows without knowing they know; an understated and remarkable character actor who took very few lead roles. His wonderfully understated performance is the centrepiece to Wim Wenders' road movie dealing with love and loss that's chock full of beautiful imagery. In fact it's a little ironic that it took a German to capture so completely the "feel" of middle America but this piece of audio-visual poetry is one of the purest examples of mainstream cinema as an art form. No-one could fail to be captivated by his scenes with estranged wife Nastassja Kinski whose first appearance on screen has becom...
